Paro and the Kingdom of Bhutan (26-31 Aug 2018)
Nestled deep in the eastern Himalayas between India and Tibet is the Kingdom of Bhutan and its people with a love of nature and kinship. Travel to ancient monasteries built without a single nail and experience breathtaking mountain views, prayer-wheel waterfalls and blue pine and rhododendron forests. The beautiful Zhiwa Ling Hotel will be our base as we start each day with qigong practice and meditation. Six wonderful days with so much insight to gain. Visit ancient monasteries such as the Tiger’s Nest and receive blessings from the Lamas. Be absorbed in the rhythm of life and know the happiness of Bhutanese people.
Kathmandu to Lukla and Namche, Nepal (1-6 sept 2018)
Flying to Lukla from Kathmandu, we walk from the Khumbu Gateway, gently downhill on pitched stone trails, through low rhododendron forests, small ‘garden’ farms and old and new hamlets, to the banks of the foaming Dudh Koshi River. We make several river crossings on wire suspension bridges and make short stops to meet the locals and take photographs. Soaking up the scenery and the clear mountain air, the trail now reveals inspiring views of 6000m snow-capped peaks high above. We arrive at our beautiful overnight accommodation in Phakding, Monjo and finally, Namche, overlooking Everest and the ever-still giants of the Himalayas. Day 5 (Nepal) and we take a helicopter over Everest Base Camp and land at Kalapathar, hopping out onto the ice for five minutes for a grand viewing of Everest. Returning to Kathmandu by scenic helicopter, we will transfer to the Yak & Yeti Hotel for the evening, concluding Hummingbird Retreat Bhutan & Nepal on Day 13.
